ORLANDO, FL, October x, 2022 – Fortress Information Security has added Jon Taylor to its team of cyber threat analysts as Vice President of Fortress Security Solutions. Taylor, an industry-recognized expert in Operational Technology (OT), Industry Control Systems (ICS) security architecture, and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) device security, will help secure Fortress’s critical infrastructure clients. Fortress provides cybersecurity protection to companies operating 40 percent of the U.S. power grid.
Taylor has worked on securing industrial technology for more than 15 years, with a focus in utilities for the past 6 years. He was drawn to Fortress because the company addresses what he has long considered the biggest challenge in the utility sector – helping companies understand the risk they face in their own environments.
“Companies look at cyber risk as something they know exists but have a really hard time wrapping their arms around. How does a new cyber vulnerability translate into risk context for that specific company, and how can you understand your real risk and exposure?” Taylor said. “Every day and every time you get a new product, with 2,000 new pieces of software in that product, your risk changes. Next week, one of those new products will discover a vulnerability and you've got to figure out do I need to worry about that? Is that a risk to me, my company, my partners, my customers? Joining Fortress, I’m with the company working to answer those questions.”
Taylor was the Senior Manager and Principal Cyber Security Consultant for OT Services at Revolutionary Security, a part of Accenture Security. He was responsible for the Pen Testing and R&D product line groups where he led both groups as their development and business leader, as well as a technical SME. Prior to Accenture’s Acquisition of Revolutionary Security in 2020, Jon helped build the OT program in a hyper-growth phase with a strong focus on capability growth, deliverable quality, and team growth.
At Fortress, Jon will be responsible for the operational delivery of Fortress’ suite of security solutions including Product Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) and Hardware Bill of Materials (HBOM) Assessments, File Integrity Assurance and Continuous Monitoring, as well as Asset Vulnerability Management.
“Jon brings the right combination of skill and experience to Fortress,” said Alex Santos, CEO and co-founder of Fortress. “He understands our mission – bringing security and compliance solutions to companies in the sectors facing the most complicated and daunting security challenges.”
Taylor, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, is an active member of the SANS Advisory Board. He received his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Bradley University. He also holds multiple active security certifications, including ISC2 CISSP, SANS GICSP, and SANS GRID.
