Betsy Soehren-Jones

Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Betsy Soehren-Jones oversees all daily operations for Fortress Information Security. In addition, Betsy is responsible for Fortress’s Client Delivery and Strategy organizations serving the Critical Infrastructure, Manufacturing, and Department of Defense business lines. She utilizes her extensive experience in designing and implementing enterprise-wide cyber security programs to help our clients reduce cyber risk within their organizations. She's a recognized expert in the field of third party/vendor risk and played a pivotal role in the development of Fortess’s cyber security central information exchange-- the A2V Network.

Professional Experience

Prior to her current position, Soehren- Jones served as the Director of Cyber Strategy and Policy at Exelon, a Fortune 100, in the Power mercantile business. In her role, she was responsible for designing and implementing the company’s information and vendor security programs. The programs served the company’s 6 utilities, renewal generation portfolio, energy trading organization, and enterprise services (i.e. human resources, legal, compliance, etc). Before that, she served as the Chief of Staff across the IT, Procurement, Real Estate, Security, and Transportation organizations. In this role, she was responsible for driving efficiency and cost savings projects. From 2005-2015, Soehren Jones held numerous leadership roles within the utility company ComEd, an Exelon subsidiary, serving the northern half of Illinois, including the City of Chicago. Prior to her work in the electric industry, Soehren – Jones served as a trial assistant responsible for e-discovery within the litigation department of Winston and Strawn.

Industry Leadership

Soehren-Jones was the Supply Chain Committee Chair for the Edison Electric Institute as well as a Committee Lead for Supply Chain at the North American Transmission Forum. Both organizations worked to develop standards for evaluating cyber security attributes of devices and the exchange of information to the electric utility industry.

Civic

Soehren-Jones serves as a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math program designer for the Girl Scouts of America. Over the last 5 years, she has authored and presented over 50 different curriculums and exercises. She serves as the Vice President of the Notre Dame Preparatory School’s Parent Association. Soehren-Jones is also an avid volleyball player serving in multiple capacities for the Columbia Volleyball Academy. Previously, she served on the Board of Directors of First Tee, a golf education program. Soehren-Jones also helped to form the Women’s Golf Team at the University of Maryland Eastern Shores, an HBCU.

Education

Soehren-Jones holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Illinois and a Master’s in Public Policy Administration from Northwestern University.
